Core product

Used Cooking Oil (UCO)

Used Cooking Oil (UCO) is a high-demand waste-based feedstock to produce sustainable biofuels like Biodiesel (FAME), Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

POME

Oil recovered from palm oil mill effluent, at the mill rather than at the refinery. Supply sits with palm oil mills in the region. We can source both Crude Palm Oil Mill Effluent (C-POME) and Refined Palm Oil Mill Effluent (R-POME).

SSAO

Soapstock acid oil, from splitting the soapstock produced from the neutralisation of free fatty acids in caustic refining. A different stream from a different plant, with its own classification.

SBEO

Oil recovered from the spent bleaching earth used in refining. Another refinery by-product, with its own specification and handling requirements.

RBO

Rice bran oil, extracted from the bran removed when rice is milled. Non-edible and high-acid grades are traded as feedstock, with supply sitting with rice mills and bran extraction plants in the region.

02 · How we work

The whole commercial process, supported.

01

Supplier sourcing

We search for and screen smaller local suppliers of used cooking oil and other residual oils in India, South East Asia and China, looking at volumes, consistency, collection network and track record.

02

Buyer requirements

We take your brief: product, volume per shipment or per month, specification, destination port, timing and any documentation or certification you require.

03

Matching

We introduce suitable suppliers and buyers to each other and set up the first conversation, so both sides speak directly to a counterpart that fits.

04

Negotiation

We do business development and support on price, volumes, payment and delivery terms for both sides, acting as facilitator rather than as counterparty.

05

Sampling and quality

We help arrange samples, lab analysis and an agreed specification between the parties, so quality is clear before the first shipment.

06

Documentation

We help both parties line up the traceability, quality and export documents the buyer requires, and keep the paperwork moving. Any certification is held by the parties in the chain.

07

Contract

Principal to principal: the sales contract is signed directly between supplier and buyer. Meridian is not a party to it and does not take title to the oil.

08

Shipment follow-up

We follow inspection, export documents, loading and delivery through to completion, and stay in touch with both sides until the cargo has arrived.

03 · Our role

Business development for both sides.

We develop business in both directions: for local suppliers who need access to global buyers, and for buyers who need reliable suppliers on the ground in South East Asia, India and China. We find, qualify, introduce and support, and stay involved until the cargo is delivered. We do not buy, collect or resell the oil, and any certification the cargo needs is held by the parties in the chain.

04 · Questions

Common questions.

Do you buy and sell the oil yourselves?

No. Meridian does business development for suppliers and buyers: we find, introduce and support, and the contract is signed directly between them, principal to principal. Formally we act as introducing broker, agent and facilitator.

Do you collect used cooking oil from restaurants?

No. Collection is done by our local suppliers. We find and screen those suppliers and connect them with larger global buyers.

Which oils do you work with?

Used cooking oil (UCO) is our core product. We also work with POME, SSAO, SBEO and rice bran oil (RBO). We do not work with animal fats.

Which countries do you cover?

India, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, Malaysia and China.

What do you need from a buyer?

Product, volume, specification, destination port, timing and any documentation or certification you require. The more precise the brief, the faster we can match you.

What do you need from a supplier?

Your location, the feedstock you offer, monthly volume, how you collect and store the oil, and whether you can provide samples. We then look for a buyer that fits.

Is certification required?

That depends on the buyer and the destination market. Any certification is held by the parties in the chain, and we help both sides line up the documentation the buyer asks for.

How quickly do you reply?

Within one business day. Use the contact form and tell us whether you want to buy or to supply.

Looking to buy or supply UCO?

Buyers: tell us your volume, destination port and timeline. Suppliers: tell us where you are, what you collect and how much. We reply within one business day.
